The Toronto Ornithological Club leads, organizes, and participates in many projects related to conserving, recording, and enjoying birds.
The Conservation Committee tends to multiple projects at a time, keeping up with the municipal, provincial, and federal governments' plans while advocating for birds and other wildlife.
In late May, the Whimbrel Watch is organized by the TOC to count Whimbrels on their journey to their breeding range in northern Canada.
From September through November, the High Park Hawk Watch tallies up raptors on their southward trip.
In December, the Toronto Christmas Bird Count is held to participate in one of the longest running citizen science projects, counting as many birds within the 24.2 km radius count circle as possible.
Past projects run by the TOC include the Toronto Warbler Survey and the Toronto Waterfowl Census.
